Terrible Twos

Terrible twos have officially hit our house. They have turned my sweet innocent little boy, into a constantly grumpy and occasionally mean little boy. I know it's 6 months early, but they hit Kairi that early as well.

When he woke up at 6am this morning (at least an hour too soon in my book), I went in and hugged him and then told him that it was still night night time. He told me no, sat down on his bottom, and kicked the side of his crib until I moved him. I did win that argument...he stayed in bed until 6:30a, and he wasn't screaming -- he just talked in his mean babble voice until I finally came and got him.

And have you ever been told off in babble language? I was this morning. While preparing morning "coke cups" and handing out bananas, I apparently did something wrong. Suddenly Alex started yelling "No no no no no no no Nonny!" and from there the angry babble started. I didn't understand a single word, but I do believe that if he talks to me in that same tone of voice in say 10 years, that he'll be getting his butt busted for cussing me out.

When Kairi wouldn't give up her drum last night simply because Alex demanded it, he found a toy and started hitting her over the head with it while yelling no at her.

When I was trying to get supper ready and Alex believed that I wasn't moving fast enough last night, he laid down on the floor and started kicking the cabinets while yelling "eat! eat! eat!".

Yesterday, he hit Kairi in the head with his hands 4 times, a pencil once (and since then he doesn't have the pencil), and at least 6 different toys. And that's just counting from 4:30p on.

Kairi is no longer the bully in our house. That title now belongs to Alex.

  1. I made a comment about Kalila and the Terrible Two's a few months ago... not understanding why its happening early and an aunt pointed something out. Terrible two's are not necessarily when they are two... but in their second year of life. Our kids are right on time. Fun isn't it?

I've been told off in baby talk too... part of me wants to laugh, and the other part knows how bad that would be if I did. I love it when she tells off the cats though. They dish it back out though, when she's going for somehting she shouldn't they swipe at her!

  2. LOL ... I've been known to laugh at them and tell them to enjoy it while they can, b/c when they use real words to tell me off, they WILL get spanked.

  3. LOL good point.

I'm ready for this terrible two thing to end (although I've hear horror stories about the 3's too). Kalila's fits are something to behold... thnkfully she rarely does it in public. But still... I haven't found anything that works w/ her when she gets like that. And she's one that will just keep going out of sheer stubborness.. Even starts throwing things to make herself madder. Worse are the ones at night. We're not sure if its night terrors or what, but uggh. I dealt w/ that last night so still fresh lol.

I much prefer the telling off... now while its still cute anyway.
